Do you know how these mobile service providers know whether the mobile is switched off or out of coverage?

When the mobile is switched OFF by the user, the mobile sends a registration message has ‘Inactive’ to the network (that’s why it takes a few seconds for your mobile to turn off)… and the “switched off” message is played by the network to the caller.

When mobile is out of network coverage and/or battery is removed, the mobile doesn’t send the registration message… network still think that the mobile as “Active” ... and on a incoming call come, its routed saying mobile is not reached by the network or “out of coverage” message is played by the network.
